Five Johnson City Schools earned the Tennessee Department of Education’s highest level of distinction for the 2020-2021 school year, according to data released on Tuesday from the TDOE.
Fairmont Elementary, Lake Ridge Elementary, South Side Elementary, Towne Acres Elementary and Woodland Elementary earned the honor of being named Reward Schools.
“To have five Reward Schools is an amazing accomplishment that speaks to the dedication of our teachers, support staff, and administrators working with students and their families,” Johnson City Schools Superintendent Steve Barnett said. “We are so proud of the hard work of our students, families and school faculties.”
For the 2020-2021 school year, 188 schools spanning 61 districts in Tennessee earned Reward status. Reward schools are those that are improving overall student academic achievement and student growth for both all students and for student groups, and they are identified annually.
